Dear Client,

As a passionate Photographer, I would like to share with you some information about my work process and answer some frequently asked questions, for a better understanding on how fine art pictures are created! And answer the frequently asked question - "how many photos will we receive?"

What is more important, quality of pictures or quantity of pictures? What I mean by ... that I value quality. In my mind this is the only possible choice.

Many people are sure that the camera has magical ability and the photographer just needs to press the magic button and finish! The masterpiece is ready. I want to disappoint you on this. The photo-shoot process itself is only a third of a photographer's job. Retouching takes a big part in the work process and transforms the images into artwork that you see in my portfolio.

What is Fine-art photography and editing?

Fine-art photography and editing is work created in line with my vision, as photographer and artist, using photography and editing as a medium for creative expression. The goal of fine-art photography and editing is to express an idea, a message, or an emotion.

What are all the work steps to follow, in order to achieve a detailed and unique final artwork?

  1. Create a concept and develop a theme for a photoshoot, based on the message and emotions that the client wants to convey
  2. Envision the scene and scout for locations
  3. Select all backdrops or props that will enhance the desired vision
  4. Photograph the session on location or in studio
  5. Review all taken frames (from 300 to 1000 images, depending on the photo-shoot) to eliminate the obvious defaults and create a preselection
  6. Take the preselection and proceed with a primary processing of 50-200 frames, to offer the client a narrowed down preview, to pick from
  7. Photo process (retouching) and art edit (RAW frames in Lightroom and Photoshop) the client’s final selection, to transforms the images into the artwork that you see in my portfolio
  8. (Each photo in artistic processing takes approximately 3 to 5 hours of work, depending on the number of faces, details and subjects) See next question for further information!
  9. Convert and post process the final artworks from RAW format to JPG format, to share with the client the final artwork

What are all the work steps in the photo processing (retouching) and art editing phase?

  1. Color correction (improvement of tonality, brightness, contrast & sharpness of the photo)
  2. Cropping (find the most correct compositional solution)
  3. Skin retouching
  4. Artistic treatment of the author's photos
  5. Artistic vision of the photographer.
